| Thallus minutely foliose, scattered or forming extensive colonies. Lobes to 0.4 mm wide; margins deeply incised, granular-sorediate, which may spread onto upper surface. Upper surface lemon-yellow to mustard-yellow. Lower surface rhizinate, white or pale brown; rhizines to 0.5 mm long, hyaline. Apothecia rare, to 1.5 mm wide; disc concave to slightly convex, round to distorted, pale yellow to orange-yellow; exciple slightly prominent, sometimes crenulate, persistent, flat or becoming sorediose, sometimes almost completely eroded by soredia; hymenium to 98 µm tall, including granular yellow epihymenium. Asci 60–82 × 22–26 µm. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 6–15 × 4–6 µm. Pycnidia laminal, crowded; ostiole pale orange; pycnidial gel hyaline. Conidia ellipsoidal, pointed at one end, 5 × 2 µm. CHEMISTRY: pulvinic acid derivatives. | ||
| A widespread species in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres; occurs in all States and mainland Territories of Australia. Grows on bark, rarely on rock. | ||
